PUSHING PAST YOUR LIMIT – QUIT HOLDING YOURSELF BACK
Whenever I hit a new PR in the gym, or whenever I go past what I previous perceived as my ”limit” I realize how I’ve been fooling myself into thinking that ”this” is my limit.
It usually always happens when I’m with other people, and they push me to go further. I often times kind of encourage them to help me push my self past my limits.
Your ”Limit” Is Bullshit
What you think is your limit almost never is which of course there are going to be some exceptions like maybe if you are a top-level athlete, or at the top of your field (this is still a maybe).
Otherwise there is a good chance that what you precise as your limit is complete bullshit. This isn’t just in the gym, or involving physical exercise this applies to anything.
I’ve found myself pushing my self past my limit literally many times over.
The first time I went hiking I actually pushed myself past what I thought were my limits so many times. It’s fucking ridiculous the first hour in I was exhausted (at my ”limit”), and I ended up going for 3-4 more hours resting for a couple of seconds, or a couple of minutes every few steps haha.
Either way finished the hike earlier then expected, and pushed myself back my limit so many times I can’t even believe it.
Then stayed at a campsite over night and hiked for 2 more hours without stopping, and hardly breaking a sweat (got my hiker legs).
Which to be fair my cardiovascular was and still is pretty shitty.
That experience along with many other experiences usually in the gym show me that what I think my limit is often times is way off.
